This marks the first of, hopefully, many blog posts that this band will write. Here's a quick glimpse of the start of Bad Blood.
Tony, the guitarist, and I use to work at a warehouse in Denton, TX. We got to talking one day about anime, movies, and music. I mentioned that I played drums and at that point he told me he played guitar. I love jamming with new people and learning how to get better by playing with others so, naturally, I asked if he wanted to come to my practice space and jam. He said yes...then bailed last minute. This happened a couple times, but I kept asking. FINALLY he followed through, after I insisted I drive him and provided a guitar and amp for him..haha.
Normally, people I jam with take a little time to get use to making up music on the spot, but Tony wasted no time. The first time we played together, we wrote the first 2 songs that Bad Blood would ever use! I instantly knew we had to make a project together and not just for fun. I recruited Talmage, vocalist, who happened to be in another band with me. I knew this band would appeal to him, since his musical background was similar to mine. Just like Tony, he had lyrics ready to go the first time we played. It was like a match made in metal heaven. haha We went through some bassists and finally got to Dustin, our current bassist. He has an energetic personality and great stage presence. His ability to catch onto our fast, syncopated riffs surprised and impressed me. Now we're all together and ready to take over the scene in DFW!
We've made a name for ourselves as an energetic, brutal metal band that can get crowds moshing. Hopefully we can become more than just a local band.
Music is what I want my career to be. It's what it HAS to be. Only the fans can get us there, though. Hopefully we can convince everyone we play in front of that we are deserving of their attention and become a fan. One step at a time. It's only the beginning, we have much further to go.
